one month to go!
Hello friends!
There’s exactly one month until These Deathless Shores comes out (?!?!? TIME IS FAKE) and I just wanted to share some updates!
Dryad Book Box
TDS has been selected for Dryad Books’ July book box(!!) which includes:
A Dryad Books exclusive copy of These Deathless Shores, featuring solid black sprayed edges (the goth era I never got to have as a teenager) & a signed bookplate
A letter from the author, exclusively for subscribers
A dark fantasy anthology, featuring original stories & retellings from a bestselling author
A special bookish item inspired by These Deathless Shores, designed exclusively for Dryad Book Box by LitPins&Co (I have seen this and IT IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. like they looked inside my brain and lifted the exact vibes)
A pouch of 'Enchanted Isle' Loose-Leaf Tea—one of Dryad’s new fantasy-inspired blends, featuring ube, pineapple, and dragonfruit
Look at this fish guy!! Obsessed with him actually
Access to Dryad Books’ friendly book club & read-along, held on Fable.
Orders close on July 12 and are open internationally! As far as I know, there are only 150–200, so you know what to do 😎
Events
Since I’m paying for all travel out of pocket (there, I said it out loud), my launch events are a little spread out, but here’s what’s happening so far:
Meet & Greet / Signing at Yu and Me Books, New York, NY—Thursday, July 11, 5:30 p.m. EST
Free art & free food will be provided! Come hang out so I’m not sitting alone at my table like a saddo with too many bags of White Rabbit. We can mob Van Leeuwen afterward
Reddit AMA—Tuesday, July 16
Made a Creature specifically for this, please clap
Also you can ask me about the cat AU
Charm City Spec at The Ivy Bookshop, Baltimore, MD—Saturday, September 7, probably 7 p.m. EST
The program will also feature the amazing writers Ann LeBlanc, Jeff Reynolds, and a few others TBA
Hope to see you in person if you’re in town!
Trade Reviews
Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and Kirkus Reviews all had super kind things to say about These Deathless Shores. Many thanks to the reviewers for taking the time to read it!
Things I’ve Been Reading
In wake of finishing my MFA, I’ve been very much gravitating toward comfort reads (at least for me, ymmv ahaha). Here are some books I enjoyed recently:
A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland—reread, hyperfixation. First and only time since Wylan van Eck (??) that I’ve encountered “cinnamon roll who could actually kill you”
The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun—another reread, another hyperfixation, I love ND rep and angst and failures to mask and YEARNING
Icarus by K. Ancrum—harrowing and tender and lovely; an intense portrait of kids trying to survive the poor decisions of the adults who were supposed to take care of them. Also EDS and intersex rep!
The Dreamer Trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater—I am in perpetual awe of the author’s brain. Though I also heard that fandom drama was the reason we didn’t get more Parrish :’ ) Also, Jordans Hennessy 🤝 Makta for twin coding, mommy issues, and general chaos
Thanks for reading, and see you next time 🫡
