a lil interview & some news

hello friends! icymi, today i have the immense honor of being featured in my friend emily charlotte’s newsletter, where she interviewed me about time loop books and writing and joy (also her intro made me cry a little, and i would like to state for the record that she is too cool for me, tyvm).

in other news, i will be teaching at futurescapes (virtual) this march! i’m truly so so honored to have been invited; mentoring is truly one of my favorite parts of being in the writing community, and i truly look forward to workshopping with the cohort! applications are still open on a rolling basis.

in reading—some shorter things i’ve enjoyed recently:

  • alix harrow’s “on purple prose”—in which the purpose of prose is “to waste the reader’s time as efficiently and sexily as possible” (many such bangers)

  • veronica roth’s newsletter on trusting your own taste—“i thought i was receiving all [the criticism] maturely and with equanimity. but what i have actually been doing is storing all of that negativity inside me as truth. as fact. because at a certain point, the easiest way to survive this negativity was to start agreeing with it. if i agree with it, it can’t hurt me, right?”

some minnesota things:

till next time! (< probably like 4 mo since school has started again :’ ) )
